Uni Powertank Smart Series Pen Review

This is the Uni Powertank Smart Series pen. It uses Uni's unique pressurized ink.

The pen has a translucent body with half of it covered with an opaque skin. The clip is very strong, able to grip a single sheet or multiple ones. The grip section is made to form circular ridges. They're a bit slippery, similar in feeling to gripping rails but comfortable. Although it's best when writing in short bursts.

The Uni Powertank Smart Series is the thinner rubberless version of the Uni Powertank. It uses the same pressurized ink refill that can write even in outer space. The Powertank Smart Series is available in 6 colors all of them come in the standard 0.7mm but you can buy 0.5mm, 0.7mm, and 1.0mm refills separately.

The pen measures 14.4cm long and 0.9cm across. An average size pen.

The unique thing about the Uni Powertank is that it's refill is pressurized. It's an oil-based ink but when pressurized it becomes this super smooth writing pen that is reminisce of a gel pen.

Writing with the pen is real smooth. There are some rough starts but after that there is no skips or scratchiness to be had. The pen lays down a thin bold line. The real test for the pressurized pen is writing with it upside down. It is still smooth and writes bold. The pressurized pen does live up to it's name.

It's thin bold line looks a little bit thinner than 0.7mm. Japanese pens do run a little thinner and this is no exception at 0.4mm wide it is thinner than 0.7mm. This is great for those who want to add some tiny details or for those who write in small spaces.

It writes upside down but how well does it dry. It dries really fast. It dries immediately. A perfect pen for left handed users.

As an oil based ink pen, this is already pretty water resistant but how resistant to water is it? With some writing samples here and a dab of water. There. No details lost and there is minimal ink wash made. This ink is even beyond resistant this is straight up waterproof.

This pen is one of my favorite pens when traveling. I can use it on a place with no problem. I can use it on semi wet paper and it still writes down smooth. I can write with it up against a wall. Whenever I need to write something down when not on a desk, I usually grab this to write with.

If you want a smooth writing pen that can write at any angle or condition in a stylish thin body then the Uni Powertank Smart Series pen is the pen you want.
