Pilot G2 Gel Pen Review

This is the Pilot G2. Pilot's best-selling gel ink pen.

The body is clear plastic with a rubberized grip section. The clip is made of molded plastic. Quite sturdy. The grip section is tapered towards the end with some added ridges to give it an extra gripping factor. Although the tapered end is what's really helping the grip section here.

This is the 0.5mm Extra Fine black ink model but there are 3 more point sizes available: a 0.38 Ultrafine, a 0.7 Fine and a 1.0 Bold. And in the color choices there are more than 10 colors available in this point size.

The pen is retractable. While the most surprising thing about clicking the pen is how strong the spring they've used is. This is great when you don't want to accidentally expose your pen while leaving it rattling inside your bag.

The pen measure 14.5 cm or 5 5/8 inches long and 1cm in diameter. An average size pen.
During the writing practice the pen lays down thick bold lines that shows a bit of ink blob during downstrokes revealing a significantly strong flowing ink. There are no noticeable skips as a result. A characteristic of a good gel ink pen.

The pen is very responsive but not scratchy, every minute movement I make there's a corresponding mark on the paper. This is a sign of a quality build.

Even if its such a flowy pen. The line width it makes is still quite thin. It is an accurate 0.5mm line that is perfect for those who need precision in their drafts or for those who like some consistency in their lines.

The drying time is great. It dries after 2 seconds which is fast enough for left handed users who write quick.

Lastly how awterproof is the ink? Swabbing it with some water and it's not that waterproof. A lof of details is lost. There is also significant inkwash made but the ink doesn't totally leave the paper. With that amount of fuzziness I would say that the Pilot G2 is only water resistant.

If you like a heavy flowing pen that lays down bold lines with no skips packaged in a seviceable body then the Pilot G2 is a good choice.
